I am a senior studying biology at Stony Brook. I am researching the evolution of olfactory receptors in frugivorous bats. Bats are a very diverse order of mammals that have evolved to utilize a variety of different food sources, and my research involves quantifying phylogenetic instability in olfactory receptor gene families to determine whether there has been selective pressure on the duplication and loss of these genes in the Stenodermatinae subfamily as a result of their difference in diet compared to other Phyllostomids
